From stiff handles to leaking aluminium frames
A window or door that catches, will not close properly or lets in draughts needs its operation and condition assessed together. The cause may involve alignment, hinges, locking points, seals or drainage rather than the glass itself.
Components and systems we assess
- Opening sashes, hinges, handles and locking mechanisms.
- Glazing and weather gaskets: seals around the glass or opening parts.
- Drainage slots and weep holes, which allow collected water to leave the frame.
- Sliding and lift-and-slide door rails, running components and alignment.
- Perimeter seals and the junction between the frame and surrounding construction.
We work with aluminium systems including Schüco, Reynaers, Kawneer, Cortizo and Velfac. Photographs, system identification and the building’s operation and maintenance manual help us assess the right components and repair approach.
Do stiff or leaking windows always need replacing?
Not necessarily. Adjustment, servicing or replacement of suitable components may be possible after assessment. Damaged frames, unavailable parts or wider defects can change the repair options. For recurring water ingress, a separate leak investigation may be appropriate.
